Bout of Books Read-A-Thon is ON

I just found out about this today…so I am getting ready to participate for the first time! Unfortunately, I just finished a whole mess of books and have actually whittled my To-Read pile down considerably for the first time in months…Fortunately, I am expecting my copy of City of Lost Souls today from Mr. UPS. I just don’t know if I can wait for Monday to start it…

I am going to splash out BIG and say that I am going to read SEVEN books in a week. Just don’t tell the family, OK? I will be alert and rested and have family time and make all my appointments and will do all my writing and remember school pick up and to make dinner, ‘k? NO ONE WILL NOTICE, I swear. Plus, they’ll all be long gone to dreamland while I finish my books.

So let’s see – what’s on the bedside table and Nook at the mo?

  • The Technologists: A Novel by Matthew Pearl
  • Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
  • The Paper Garden: An Artist [Begins Her Life Work] at 72 by Molly Peacock
  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
  • The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides
  • The Tiger’s Wife by Tea Obreht
  • Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James (should I mention this one?)

No offense to any of the authors of the aforementioned books, but, for today, blah. With the exception of Shiver, nothing really strikes my fancy. If I am going to get through this challenge in one piece, I have to have 7 SUPERBOOKS that will propel me to the finish!

Cheers and make some book suggestions! You can check out my Goodreads and see what I have already read:

If any of the challenges are for writing reviews and finishing some books I started a while ago, well, I could use a little motivation on THAT front…fingers crossed!

  1. I absolutly adored The Wolves of Mercy Falls series. I bet you will enjoy Shiver =) It is definitely a great one! Good luck! I admire your challege—no way would my kids let me get away with reading 7 books in 7 days! ha!

    1. I never really OMG things, but OMG that book was incredible! I can’t wait for Underworld?? I think that’s the second one by Meg Cabot? I read that book so fast it was ridiculous and unusual! haha!

        1. Oooo I didn’t realize it was out!! I will have to try to get it from my library! (I have 5 books waiting for me to read them from the library right now…may have to add myself to the bout of books read-o-thon and just suck it up! haha! 🙂

  2. Good luck with your goals. I loved Shiver and I’m sure you will too. I have City of Lost Souls on my list and purposely left it at the post office until yesterday so I wouldn’t be tempted. Now, I’m just pretending it’s not here. Tomorrow? All bets are off. LOL! Have fun!
