Feature and Follow Friday BadgeWelcome to my post for Feature and Follow Friday. This meme is the brainchild of Alison at Alison Can Read and Rachel at Parajunkee’s View.

Each week, in addition to a question to answer, one of the previous week’s participants will be randomly selected by each host for an interview (hence the Feature portion of the meme). This week’s featured bloggers are Book Worm in Love and Book Cupid.

Here’s this week’s question:

Have you ever read a book that you thought you would hate? Did you end up hating it? Did you end up loving it? Or would you never do that?

I try to only check out, request or buy books that I am at least vaguely interested in. The only books that I can think of that I “knew” I would possibly dislike were those that were assigned in middle school/high school. Ethan Frome comes to mind. But recently? If I think I am going to hate it, I don’t read it. I don’t have the time to spare on books like that. These days, the only thing that comes close is Fifty Shades of Grey. There was so much controversy surrounding that book that I knew I very well might not like it.

What about you?

  1. New subscriber here!
I finally read Ethan Fromme earlier this year (I have a personal challenge to read more classics) and I didn’t hate it. It is such a short read that even if I did hate it I probably would have finished it anyway but I found it rather interesting – th0ugh the characters were all despicable!

    1. I am sure if I re-read half of the classics that I didn’t like in school, I would like them. Maybe Ethan Frome is where I start…I am encouraged by the length of it…

      Thanks for subscribing and welcome!
