Each week, in addition to a question to answer, one of the previous week’s participants will be randomly selected by each host for an interview (hence the Feature portion of the meme). This week’s featured bloggers are No Bent Spines and Thoughts and Pens.
Here’s this week’s question/request:
Share something that you have learned about book blogging or blogging in general in the last month.
If you’re paying attention, you learn a lot in the first three to six months that you have your blog: everything from when to post, to how many posts per week and finding cool memes to join. You may also learn (the hard way, perhaps) that if you neglect your blog (even for just a week) the number of views that you get can take a nose dive. Also, you will clue in on how to make your blog look better with a good design, plug-ins that enhance your site and what social media you should be working with.
I had another blog prior to this, so I already knew a lot about blogging. So the one thing I think you need to remember is this: the only constant in blogging, to paraphrase someone somewhere, is change.
Don’t be afraid to update your look, add a meme (that may or may not work out) or to reach out to another blogger to ask “how did you do that?” Know that social media is VERY important (yes, if you want people to be able to talk about you and tell others about you, YOU NEED TWITTER!). Be on the lookout for new (especially free!) ways to get the word out about your blog. Get to “know” other bloggers online; they can be some of your best advocates. And, of course, make it SUPER easy for someone to follow you however they want.
No, I didn’t learn all of this in the last thirty days, but I think it is important to remind yourself every month that change is inevitable…and rewarding!
