Review: ‘Out of Sight, Out of Time’ by Ally Carter #ATBF12

Rating: 4

The Low Down: The Fifth Book in the Gallagher Girl Series, the plot revolves around Cammie and her inability to remember the four months prior to her waking up in a Swiss Convent high in the Alps. She and her best friends Bex, Macey and Liz, along with her sort-of boyfriend, Zach, launch themselves into the unknown when they try to retrace Cammie’s travels. But how much of last summer is she ready to recall?

Best Thang ‘Bout It: For various and sundry reasons (see below, if you care to) I am reading this volume first. I have not read any of the previous books in the series, so I was curious to see if they hold up on their own. I love the spy angle, the fact that these girls are lethal and still in high school. I will be reading the previous four for sure, because they aren’t Nancy Drew-ish in the least.

I’m Cranky Because: I will have to get back with you on this, as I feel I can’t really answer this until I have read the first four books. At this point, I don’t know if I am missing anything or a character took a wrong turn or there are too many unanswered questions.

Should You?: I don’t usually start a series with the fifth book (meaning, never), but since I am trying to read all of the most recent publications by authors who are appearing at the Austin Teen Book Festival in 2012, and I didn’t have the time to read all five, I started with this one. If you like kick-ass heroines who can take care of themselves, intrigue and plaid uniforms, this book’s for you.
