Summer Wrap-Up Read-a-Thon Stats N Crap

Here’s where I will keep all the pertinent info regarding what the heck I have been doing to help make this read-a-thon be the most awesomest. Dude. Oh, and I stole this form from Ellie at Musings of a Bookshop Girl. If she stole it from someone else, that’s her deal. I did add some stuff about challenges, though.

Saturday, August 4th:
What I’ve been reading: Almost started Betrayed by Ednah Walters (ARR); actually began reading after midnight 🙁
Books finished: None
Total number of books finished: 0
Number of pages today: 0, sadly.
Total number of pages: 0
Challenges completed: Wicked Summer Cover Challenge by Wickedly Bookish
The Menu: Diet DP and IKEA Kex biscuits (that’s IKEA animal crackers, people)
Today #insixwords: Freakin’ hot, but not much reading.
Thoughts for the day: I am glad this is a long RAT as day 1 for me is usually a loss. Getting my bearings, etc. Plus, it’s Saturday and time to be with the fam.

Sunday, August 5th:
What I’ve been reading: Read a little more of Betrayed by Ednah Walters (ARR); had just read the first one and was not in the mood to continue. I started Matched by Ally Condie as it is overdue to the lie-berry.
Books finished: None
Total number of books finished: 0
Number of pages today: Hard to tell – no page nos. on Betrayed. On Matched I have finished 42 pages before the day changed to Monday.
Total number of pages: I’ll say 110
Challenges completed: None
The Menu: Diet DP and Roasted Hatch Green Chili Cheese bread – toasted with butter
Today #insixwords: What’s up? Can’t get motivated, grrrr.
Thoughts for the day: I did write a blog posting today that had nothing to do with the read-a-thon, so it wasn’t like I was doing nothing.

Monday, August 6th:
What I’ve been reading: Matched by Ally Condie
Books finished: THE BIG GOOSE EGG (but it is only 6:38 pm)
Total number of books finished: 0 (see comment above)
Number of pages today: 199
Total number of pages: 309
Challenges completed: Cover Love Challenge! by Falling for YA
The Menu: Gloria Jean’s Toasted Almond Cream coffee with 2 Splendas and fat-free Half-and-Half; Diet DP; plain rice cakes and IKEA gingersnaps (not all at the same time!)
Today #insixwords: Too much to do to read.
Thoughts for the day: I really thought the reading would take off today, but alas, no. One of my good friends that I haven’t seen in a long time came by and we talked for at least 3 hours. I will hopefully finished Matched today so I don’t look like a total loser. [Later: I did not finish Matched yet. Big L on forehead.]

Tuesday, August 7th:
What I’ve been reading: Matched by Ally Condie and Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins
Books finished: Matched by Ally Condie (hooray!)
Total number of books finished: 1
Number of pages today: 125 (so far); 366 total
Total number of pages: 675
Challenges completed: Book Puzzle Challenge by Pearl the Book Girl
The Menu: Water and a crust of bread
Today #insixwords: I’ve got it goin’ on now
Thoughts for the day: Got some good reading done today, wrote/update some posts, it’s all good.

Wednesday, August 8th:
What I’ve been reading: Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins and The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
Books finished: Sweet Evil
Total number of books finished: 2
Number of pages today: 512
Total number of pages:1187
Challenges completed: Mystery Title Challenge by Abibliophobic
The Menu: Water, coffee
Today #insixwords: Kinda gray out; nice reading day
Thoughts for the day: Read some, wrote some. Good day. (Maybe that should have been my #insixwords, eh?)

Thursday, August 9th:
What I’ve been reading: The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
Books finished: Perks
Total number of books finished: 3
Number of pages today: 150
Total number of pages: 1337
Challenges completed: 0
The Menu: Cherry, Grape and Orange Life Savers
Today #insixwords: Too much in my head to read (Oh, suck it up. Seven ain’t gonna hurt you once.)
Thoughts for the day: Some days I can’t read – I have to write. It didn’t help that the book I am reading is a poignant belly punch with a side of I want to skweench you so hard. I couldn’t power through that book.

Friday, August 10th:
What I’ve been reading: I need to finish Betrayed. I am a week behind on that one (sorry, Ednah.)
Books finished: 0
Total number of books finished: 3
Number of pages today: *Gulp* 0
Total number of pages: 1337
Challenges completed: None 🙁
The Menu: HOMEMADE (I said it) Pad See Ew
Today #insixwords: Almost back to school PTA meeting
Thoughts for the day: A busy day of not reading. Wrote, had a meeting, good friend for dinner. It’s all good.

Saturday, August 11th:
What I’ve been reading: Betrayed by Ednah Walters
Books finished: None
Total number of books finished: 3
Number of pages today: I can’t tell – it’s on my Kindle app
Total number of pages: Whatever I read today + 1337
Challenges completed: Book Cover Challenge by Chocolate Coated Reviews
The Menu: Rice Krispies
Today #insixwords: I’d rather be writing than reading
Thoughts for the day: Saturdays are hard days to get reading in, especially if we have errands to run or just want to get out of the house. So, read more on Betrayed and updated this post and did a challenge yesterday. That’s it.

Sunday, August 12th:
What I’ve been reading: Betrayed
Books finished: Betrayed
Number of pages today: 268
Challenges completed: Quote Challenge by Bumbles and Fairy-Tales
The Menu: Club crackers, Diet DP
Today #insixwords: Wish I’d been more prepared 🙁
Thoughts for the day: I will be finishing one more book, so pretty decent, a four-book finish. My TBR stack does NOT look any smaller. It’s back to school time, so meetings, schedule pick-up, end-of-summer parties, shopping, a very important birthday, etc. etc. etc. have started. Next time, the End of Summer RAT should be scheduled in the winter.

Total Pages Read This Read-a-Thon: 1605

  1. Haha, I totally stole that challenge line right back… I don’t THINK I stole the layout from anyone, I used it when I first started read-a-thonning a while ago and I’ve never looked back, it just works for me!

My Saturday was a dead loss – 0 pages – but I’ve made up for it today by knuckling down and ignoring the hell out of my most irritating customers, rather than fretting about them, haha! 😉

    1. Then you are a creative genius. Yeah, I tried to knuckle down today, but I didn’t get to choose my book today – it’s one I am reading for an ARR. It’s fine, but I have a huge stack I need to get to. Two of my books are overdue at the library! HORROR!

Hope you kept your customers in line today!

  2. Dude, you’re doing great! My crappy customers *cough* I mean, er, hard-working life keeps getting in the way of my read-a-thonning too but I’ve only read about a fifth of your total pages! Oooh, I do hope you like PERKS, I loved it so much and it’s one of those books where you really genuinely care whether other people love it too! *keeps fingers tightly crossed*

    1. I’m trying…The rest of my books are pretty thick, though. Then I have another RAT that starts immediately following this one. I will still have plenty on my plate to read! I keep thinking of the movie ‘Notting Hill’ where Hugh Grant’s character owns a travel bookshop. One clueless guy keeps coming in and asking for the latest John Grisham thriller or some other decidedly NOT travel book. Ah, the perks of working retail!
TPoBaW is really good, poignant, even, so far. Keep on keepin’ on!
