The Sunday Post 3.17.2013

The Sunday Post MemeThis is a fun meme started by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. As she says:

~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Here’s the awesomeness that you read, ingested, missed, hated, loved, {whatever} last week:

Oh this week was not so read-ey-riffic…I shall blame it on the fact that it was Spring Break and I was otherwise engaged with other things. Here’s what I did accomplish, however:

  1. The Sunday Post 3.10.2013.
  2. Book Review: The Uglies by Scott Westerfeld.
  3. Top Ten Tuesday’s Top Ten Books at the TOP of My Spring 2013 TBR List!
  4. Since I was having trouble finishing books this week, I wrote an essay called Gotta Post SOMETHING.
  5. Many of you know that I really enjoy the books that Angel Lawson has written for the YA realm. She is working on her first Adult series, so I posted about the Cover Reveal: ‘Vigilant.’
  6. Friday I had another first…I created a challenge for the Take Control of Your TBR Pile Read-A-Thon that is from Friday through this coming Monday. See if you can correctly guess the titles and authors of these books that were later made into movies. It’s fun and a little difficult…The Book to Movie Challenge!
  7. Yes, I did read more than one book this week (sad, really, especially since it is a RAT week). Saturday I posted a review of Melissa Jensen’s The Fine Art of Truth or Dare.

Don’t Forget to Join the Challenge!

Take Control of Your TBR PileDo you think you know your book covers? What if they are books that have been turned into movies? Be sure to join The Book to Movie Challenge! See how many covers you recognize and earn points toward winning an Amazon Gift Certificate! Contest ends at midnight Monday night. This is part of the month-long Take Control of Your TBR Pile sponsored by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Here, Bookie Bookie

I am truly an idiot. I keep adding more and more books, and I think I have about 12 currently checked out of the library. But they all look soooo good! You understand, right? I mean, I don’t have a problem or anything. I can quit any time. I just don’t want to. So here’s what I got:

  • From NetGalley and Kensington Books, I received Breathless by Brigid Kemmerer.
  • Eden at the Edge of Midnight, thanks to the author, John Kerry.

From the library:

  • The Reece Malcolm List by Amy Spalding
  • Variant by Robison Wells
  • Everneath by Brodi Ashton
  • Reached by Ally Condie
  • Looking for Alaska by John Green

So Long, Farewell

Another Spring Break has come and gone. We ended it with a bang last night at a bonfire and weenie roast, complete with Kumbaya (just don’t ask to hear our special lyrics) and s’mores. Time for all the kiddies to get back to it, though it won’t be long ’til they are out for the summer. Time flies when you’re not in school!

Hey…Whatcha Reading This Week?

Let’s see…since I failed miserably at this whole read-a-thon for the TBR challenge, I still have quite a few books to finish. I have four books that I haven’t finished yet! They are soooo ‘meh.’ I feel like I am in a slump…regardless, I will soldier on. Here’s what I hope to accomplish by next Sunday:

  1. Scarlet by Marissa Meyer is due soon at the library, so I need to read that.
  2. I have finished The Reece Malcolm List by Amy Spalding, and will post a review this week.
  3. I need to grit my teeth and finish Biting Cold by Chloe Neill. I don’t know why I am having trouble getting into this one…I loved the previous several!
  4. I have other books from the library that have waiting lines that I must finish: Looking for Alaska by John Green and Reached by Ally Condie.
  6. I will not check out any other books from the library unless they are ones that I have already requested.
  7. I will not get any more books from NetGalley this week.
  8. I will take part in Top Ten Tuesday, “Waiting On” Wednesday and Feature and Follow Friday IF, AND ONLY IF, I HAVE THE TIME. I will not use these posts as a reason to avoid writing and posting a review.

What are you going to do to get ready for Spring reading?

  1. I completely understand…I keep adding books to read, and even worse I keep starting books. I have 5 going right now…or was it 6? Anyway! I’m doing the readathon as well and I’m bombing on it, I have a grand total of 0 to show for it. So I’m going to try to make a push in this last day. I hope you catch up on everything and I hope you have a great week (and enjoy Scarlet)!

    1. I am so glad that I am not alone…I started Scarlet yesterday, and am so happy to say that I am loving it. I had kind of put if off (no idea why). For some reason, I haven’t been connecting with what I have been reading lately.

      Have a great week, Michelle!

  2. Awesome collection from the library, I got Reece Malcolm from Netgalley but didn’t get to download it and by the time I did it was already archived 🙁 I do hope it doesn’t go negative under my name when I didn’t download it.

I’m glad that you enjoyed The Uglies Series by Scott Westerfeld, I really enjoyed this series. I didn’t like Specials as much though 🙁

    My Sunday Post

    Have a great week!

    1. I liked it OK…wasn’t my fav. Yes, hopefully you won’t be in BIG TROUBLE!

I hope to read some more of the Uglies series, but it is far back on my list right now.

      Have a great week!
