The Sunday Post 4.21.2013

The Sunday Post MemeThis is a fun meme started by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. As she says:

~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Here’s the awesomeness that you read, ingested, missed, hated, loved {whatever} last week:

Let’s see how I fared…

Get Well Soon, Kimba!

Kimba has been not feeling well this past week, so I’d like to give her a shout out to feel better and get back to reading. Her comments are definitely missed!

What’s Up For Next Week

As I said in yesterday’s essay, this coming week is a busy one – both bookishly speaking and in real life. One the home front, there are two days of testing at school, which means only one day of cross country, making sack lunches for two days and making sure someone gets a great night sleep. Online, here’s what’s up:

Twisted Lit promo

  • Today’s The Sunday Post
  • Review Tempestuous by Kim Askew and Amy Helmes. This Tuesday is Shakespeare’s birthday, and Ms. Helmes and Merit Press were so kind to send me a copy of this book from their Twisted Lit series. I had reviewed their second book, Exposure, so I was asked to join in a birthday/guest post combo that I couldn’t say no to. Which brings me to…
  • Guest post by Kim and Amy regarding a spectacular contest and info about their next two books! Have you ever wanted to see your name in print?
  • Review of manicpixiedreamgirl by Tom Leveen; it’s being released on Tuesday.
  • Review of Vigilant by Angel Lawson. Tuesday is also the release day for her new book for adults. I can’t wait.
  • Review of Everbound by Brodi Ashton. I didn’t get finished with this one in time to post last week, so I am getting it out this week instead.
  • I am going to try and finish A Corner of White and read/review That Time I Joined the Circus by J.J. Howard.
  • I will, as always, try to participate in the weekly features that I usually post.

Sherlock

Does anyone else watch the Sherlock Holmes series shown on PBS? It just completed its second season. There’s only three episodes in each season, which is frustrating because it is so good. It’s on Netflix for sure, and I think Amazon. Set in modern day, the shows are clever, snarky and witty. I particularly love how they show what Sherlock is thinking. They even got him in a deerstalker hat in one episode. Season three is slated to start in September.

Sherlock

Check in with me next Sunday to see how I did!

    1. It’s been a while since I saw the first season, so I didn’t remember it being so funny. Watson dead-pans with those snarky comments to Sherlock. It’s such a great series.

Do you watch Elementary? I like that one, too.
