Please welcome Monique, a book blogger who writes for her blog, Something To Browse.
I’m a college student who loves to read more than just my textbooks. I love all the books! Romance, Contemporary, Action, and Dystopia are some of my favorites, and I mostly read YA. I’m not a published author, unless you’re counting that time when my poem got picked in the Creative Writing Contest and my poem was published with the other winners in a big book. I’ve had a blog for a little bit over a year now, and I’ve been having a blast so far. What do I do for fun? READ or study. Yes, that’s true. I actually like to study. When I’m not reading or studying, I like hanging out with my friends, singing, writing, or munching on snacks.
Monique has chosen the following two books to talk about today:
FIRST I READ THIS:
I chose this book because I really loved the Keira Knightley version of Pride and Prejudice and I wanted to relive the experience of it. It turns out Pride and Prejudice is actually pretty different than the Keira Knightley version, but it didn’t disappoint me at all. It was even better!
What is it about? Pride and Prejudice is a book that tells how first impressions could be completely wrong. It follows the life of Lizzie Bennet, the second eldest daughter of 5 very different sisters. She meets the rich, proud Mr. Darcy and then misunderstandings and hilarity ensues. I can’t do this book justice without spoilers.. You will have to read it yourself and understand the epic story.
SO THEN I READ THIS:
Prom and Prejudice is a modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice. Did you get that from the title? The title is what drew me to it in the first place. At that time, I wasn’t even aware that retellings were a thing, but I became a retelling addict when I was finished with this book.
It tells the story of a modernized Lizzie who attends Longbourne Academy, a very prestigious school, just don’t tell anyone there that Lizzie has to be there on scholarship money because she isn’t as privileged as most of the students there. Lizzie meets Darcy, who seems like a pompous jerk at first, but things aren’t always what it seems. Lizzie has to decide who her friends are and where her loyalties lie.
That’s all I can say without spoiling. Just read and enjoy! 😛
