Wow! Four Blog Nominations! Wheeee!

First of all, I want to say thank you so very much to Jen at Reading ‘En Vogue’ for my FOUR blog nominations! They are my first, so I am simultaneously and sincerely grateful, flattered and excited! Secondly, I’d like to give Jen a warm round of applause for celebrating her one year blogoversary on July 5th. Congrats!

I have had a blog since 2005, but after writing three pretty insignificant things (one was deleted…shhh…we can’t speak of it), I didn’t look at it until this past January when I turned it into Ink and Page. While working in the remodeling field, I began a blog for my company and started writing again. I guess I got the bug, because it made me want to write more. Adding social media to the mix, I have started to find some pretty awesome compatriots with whom I enjoy talking to on Twitter, reading their blogs and participating in read-a-thons, author requested reviews and challenges.

Here are the awards for which I was nominated:

  1. Thank the nominator.
  2. Nominate others that are worthy of that award in your opinion (official rules recommend 15, but that number can be tweaked).

  3. Tell us 7 things about yourself (and let us know where to read them. You can use your blog, but not everyone else does). Make sure the people you nominate know they have been nominated.

Thank you so much, Jen for the nomination. You are my first writer friend that I conversed with on a regular basis. You are so generous with your RTs, blog comments and support! Thank you.

Now on to the juicy stuff…7 things you don’t know about me…only 7? 🙂

  1. I majored in Art History in college. I started out as a Business Admin major because my brother said I couldn’t find a job unless I majored in business. I hated it, so I decided I would major in something I loved and worry about the job later.

  2. I was a cheerleader in college. It was a very small school. I was never on TV because of it.

  3. I love to sing and was in all our musicals in high school. I was a little performance-shy, so I never put myself out there for a lead role. I am a little less inhibited now and love to do karaoke. It is very important for me to know all the correct lyrics.

  4. I lived in Italy for a year when I was 7 years old. My parents were teachers, and they took Montessori training in Bergamo, Italy. I am sure that this is what spawned a-c (yes, this is cheating).

    1. I LOVE to travel and visit new places. My family traveled around Europe before and after living in Italy. I lived in Germany for a month after college, my husband and I celebrated our honeymoon in London, and we lived in Switzerland and South Africa when our daughter was little. I have also been to Mexico, Canada and Jamaica. Yes, I have been to Iceland. More than once.

    2. I LOVE foreign languages. I should have majored in them in college, but I was too lazy. I speak Spanish (not fluent by any means) and took German and French in college. German came in handy in Switzerland, though they speak a different form of it where we lived.

    3. I LOVE learning about other cultures. I have Salvadoran friends who invited us to a wedding and a baby shower. South Africa has a bunch of different cultures much like the US. Sans apartheid, it’s a pretty cool place.

  5. I can talk like a munchkin.

  6. I started my own business in 2008 as a general contractor.

  7. Books are in my blood: I have always been a huge reader. I used to ride my bike to the library, check out 6 books (six was the limit in those days), ride home, read all my books and go back the next day. I am a fast reader. I worked at a bookstore in high school and college where we could read anything in the store. Sad thing: my Dad passed away before all the Harry Potters were published. I think he only got to read them through Order of the Phoenix.

  1. Include the award logo somewhere on your blog
  2. Answer the nine questions (below).

  3. Nominate 10-12 blogs you enjoy. Or you pick the number.

  4. Pay the love forward: provide your nominee’s link in your post and comment on their blog to let them know they’ve been included and invited to participate.

  5. Pay the love back with gratitude and a link to the blogger(s) who nominated you.

  1. What is your favorite color? That’s a hard one…I like different colors for different things. I do love pink, though. I have a pink computer. I love black, chocolate brown, Spring green…

  2. What is your favorite animal? To live with, a dog. To see photos of, most mammals. I have seen white rhinos, zebras a giraffes on safari and that’s pretty awesome. I love bunnies, too. We have tons in our neighborhood.

  3. What is your favorite non-alcoholic drink? If I could have anything? I love chocolate milk. Hot tea (Fortnum and Mason) ranks way high on my list. I do love coffee (specifically, lattes). Cherry cider from Trader Joe’s is pretty spectacular. I drink a lot of water and iced tea, too.

  4. Facebook or Twitter? I LOVE Twitter. Immediate, most of the big companies answer your questions and follow you…I have made some great friends on Twitter. Plus, your info goes out to the entire Twitterverse and not just to whomever has followed you.

  5. What is your favorite pattern? I like toile, but with a modern twist. Like non-traditional scenes in hot pink.

  6. Favorite number? Seven! It’s the day I was born!

  7. Favorite day of the week? I am home a lot, and I have a DVR, so does it really matter what the actual DAY is? However, I must say Friday since that’s the last day of my husband’s work week, and during the school year, that’s the last day of school for the week.

  8. Favorite flower? Gerbera daisies. I love how huge they are and the colors they come in. They look sturdy.

  9. What is your passion? Hmmm…see a previous link for my opinion on passions…I will say that I have a love/hate relationship with sitting at my computer! I want everything to be perfect…and it’s so not! I certainly LOVE writing, as you can do it anywhere and about anything! That’s pretty cool, right?

Post seven things about yourself that others do not know. (See above for the “inspiration!”)

  1. Include the award’s logo in a post or on your blog.
  2. Share the love and link the person who nominated you.
  3. Tell 7 facts about yourself.
  4. Nominate 7 other fabulous bloggers (sorry, I could only cut down to 9).
  5. Link your nominees to this post and comment on their blogs, letting them know they have been nominated.

Since I am a bit new here, my nominations are for people who I have tweeted with or have a blog that I love to read. For all four awards, I nominate the following nine blogs:

  1. The Book Addict’s Guide

  2. Books, Biscuits and Tea

  3. In Between

  4. Nyx Book Reviews

  5. Pages From My Thoughts

  6. Pure Imagination

  7. Reading in Winter

  8. Should Be Reading

  9. Some Like It Paranormal

As my nominatrix, Jen, said and I repeat: “I have noticed that some blog writers do not accept awards because their intent is to blog, and not blog for awards but for their readers. So, if any of my nominees fall into this category and would rather not participate, I understand. BUT, please know that you are a true inspiration to me.” I heartily concur.

Thanks everyone and continue to have a great Sunday!
